Eyes In The Stars

I dreamt I was a space farer,
The sun stroked my many spheres,
Helped synthesize this warmth,
Manifested these dark fears.

Made these mirrors in the void,
Immured glazed eyes behind them,
Progression at the speed of light,
This cosmos mine to condemn.

Preserved from deterioration,
The sardonic space faring barbarian,
His cage of flesh so vulnerable,
Suited alien humanitarian.

Enamored by savage impulses,
A greedy linchpin in the unknown,
Brought these butterflies into orbit,
Old ecology given new home.

A hope they’d choke In the vacuum,
Or be overwhelmed by Infinity,
Escaped a rotation to join the expanse,
Amongst the edges of sanguinity.

Why whisper in the vacuum,
Disregard unreachable stars,
This mix of silence and darkness,
The same void we claimed as ours.
